South Walton Big Questions Tournament

Welcome to the first-ever South Walton Big Questions Tournament You are cordially invited to attend our BQ competition onMay 14th, 2022.This is an exceptional opportunity for our team to fundraise money to go to Nationals this year. We encourage you to bring as many members of your team as you can! 

General Information

Topic: Resolved: On balance, societies benefit from religious belief and practice.

We are planning to run 3 rounds. Every competitor will compete in each round, and will be expected to debate BOTH sides of the resolution in at least 1 round.

REGISTRATION: Please register on Tabroom at this link: http://sowalbq.tabroom.com/

JUDGES: Competitors are not required to provide judges to enter, but judges are still very needed!

IF YOU ARE JUDGING: 

1. Please email Joanna Ellis (see contacts) to indicate your interest.

2. Please watch this guide to judging! It is very important that you have a brief understanding of what the competition is, the proper procedure, etc. 

IF YOU ARE COMPETING:

1. Please make sure your coach or at least one chaperone adult is PRESENT at the facility with you.

2. If you need resources on understanding Big Questions Debate, visit this guide.

FOOD: Snacks and drinks will be sold throughout the tournament. Please make all of your payments in cash. During the lunch break, we will have a vendor selling lunches (details TBD).

Events & Divisions

We will only be hosting one event, Big Questions with three divisions (Varsity, Novice, Middle). We will blend two or more divisions if we do not have enough students registered in any one division to keep it separate.

Our tournament will be held in person, at the South Walton HS campus

645 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459

Please park in the lot at the front of the school.

When you arrive, walk through the open double doors at the Main Entrance, which is on the far left of the school front. From there, walk through the courtyard to the outdoor dining area. There will be doors on your left to take you into the cafeteria, which is where coaches and competitors will check in.

IMPORTANT: Since there is a dance recital going on in and around the school auditorium, competitors and adults are asked to refrain entering or exiting through the main hallway of the school. This will not impede access to check-in, exits, bathrooms, or competition rooms in any way.  

Fees & Donations

There are no fees! This competition is completely free to enter!

However, we would greatly appreciate donations. Anything helps!

 Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 - Registration closes @ 11:59 PM. All entries must be submitted on Tabroom by then.
